A complete Spanish lesson plan for La Misma Luna — ready to open and teach.
About the Film
A nine-year-old boy crosses the US-Mexico border alone to find his mother, who has spent years working in Los Angeles to give him a better life. The journey is dangerous, the love is absolute, and every scene holds both at once. Students connect with this film before they realize how much Spanish they're absorbing.
How This Plan Works
Good films have natural moments — a powerful scene, a cultural encounter, a shift in the story — where the language and meaning come together. This plan identifies those moments in La Misma Luna and builds a lesson around each one. For every scene, you get vocabulary and cultural notes, comprehension activities, and communicative tasks your students can work through in class or independently. A pre-film warm-up gets them ready before the first screening.
Everything is included: the teacher's guide, student worksheets in Spanish, and an answer key.

📅 Teach it when it counts
- Hispanic Heritage Month (Sept 15 – Oct 15): Immigration, family separation, and resilience — essential themes for contemporary Latin American culture units.
- Mother's Day (May): The mother-son relationship at the film's core makes this a powerful choice for any family values unit.
