With this adaptation of the classic Victor Hugo novel, Disney gives life to the heroic adventures of Quasimodo, Notre Dame bell ringer, who suffers from loneliness. Encouraged by his pals the gargoyles Victor, Hugo and Laverne, Quasidmodo defies his gardian Frollo and leaves the tower to participate in the festivities below. But the cruel crowd below rejects him because of his repugnant appearance. After having been saved by another outcast, Esmerelda, Quasimodo goes to the defense of the people and the town he loves--all the while reminding us to judge people for what they are rather than their appearance. 1996, 91 minutes, MPAA rating: G, DVD has French and Spanish language track with English closed captioning.
