Philippe is a tetrapeligic. That is, he is paralyzed below the neck. Being quite wealthy, he can afford a caretaker and puts out an ad in the newspaper. Driss is from the projects. His intention is to put in his name for the job so that he will be eligible for what would be the equivalent of our unemployment. He doesn’t intend to seriously apply for the job so is surprised when he gets it. This film is about the relationship that develops between Philippe and Driss and is based on the novel You Changed My Life by Abdel Sellou. This film was enormously successful in France and is France’s entry in the 2013 Academy Awards. 2011, 112 minutes, MPAA rating: NR (would likely be R for a little language), in French with English subtitles.
